How Canada and Seattle are shaping the future of AI at Seattle AI Week

Neighbours in Innovation: Canada and Seattle Shaping the Future of AI

When it comes to AI, innovation doesn't stop at the border. The Consulate General of Canada in Seattle is proud to again be sponsoring Seattle AI Week. This year, Canada is showing up in support of Seattle AI Week like never before, bringing founders, researchers, policy experts and industry leaders from across Canada to explore some of the most exciting developments in artificial intelligence, quantum technology, cleantech, and talent development.

The Pacific Northwest is already one of the world's most connected innovation regions. Seattle's global technology leadership and Canada's internationally recognized strengths in AI and quantum research create a powerful combination. To celebrate and strengthen those connections we are co-hosting a series of events that showcase Canadian expertise while highlighting new opportunities for collaboration between our two regions.

Growing a Cross-Border Innovation Community

Our mission is simple: strengthen trade, investment, innovation, and commercial relationships between Canada and the Pacific Northwest. We connect businesses, researchers, investors, and institutions on both sides of the border to help turn great ideas into partnerships and partnerships into growth.

That commitment extends to our long-standing support for the Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA). Over the years, we've partnered on programs that have introduced Canadian technology companies to the Seattle ecosystem, helping them better understand the region's opportunities while building meaningful relationships with local businesses, investors, and innovation leaders.

Sponsoring Seattle AI Week is a natural extension of that work.

Canada is proud to be all in for Seattle AI Week. If you're interested in AI, quantum technologies, cleantech innovation, responsible AI, or accessing world-class talent, we invite you to join us at one or more of our featured events, showcasing the ideas, partnerships, and people shaping the next chapter of innovation in the Pacific Northwest.

Register below and join Canada at Seattle AI Week.

Convergence Summit: Quantum & AI in the Northwest

The Convergence Summit: Quantum & AI in the Northwest brings together leaders working at the intersection of two transformative technologies. Canada has established itself as a global leader in both AI and quantum computing, with world-class researchers, startups, and innovation hubs driving breakthroughs across the country.  The opportunity is clear: combine Seattle's technology ecosystem with Canada's research strengths to help shape the next generation of computing and intelligence.

Harnessing AI for Cleantech

In partnership with the Cleantech Alliance of Washington, we're exploring how artificial intelligence is accelerating solutions to climate and sustainability challenges. Canada and Washington State share a commitment to innovation-driven sustainability, making this a natural area for deeper cross-border partnership.

Opening the Black Box: Why We Need Safe, Transparent AI, and How to Build It

AI's potential is enormous, but so are the questions surrounding safety, transparency, and governance. This discussion features Jonathan Barry, Vice President of Global Government Affairs and Public Policy at LawZero, the Quebec-based nonprofit founded by Turing Award winner Yoshua Bengio. The conversation will explore how organizations can design AI systems that are safe, trustworthy, and aligned with human interests.

Canada's AI Talent Advantage: Hiring, Scaling, and Growing Across Borders

Technology companies everywhere are competing for talent. At a time of unprecedented uncertainty around global talent recruitment, Canada offers a powerful advantage. Join this session to learn how companies can tap into Canada's deep pool of highly skilled AI professionals, world-leading research institutions, and globally competitive talent ecosystem.

Whether you're a startup looking to scale, a growing company exploring expansion, or a business struggling to hire specialized AI talent, Canada offers a compelling platform for growth. Canadian immigration officials will be on hand to answer questions about pathways to Canadian residency.
